Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a local amateur boxing event a few years ago in Shreveport, Louisiana (Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club). The young man I captured using the left jab is named Quantavious "Tooloo" Green (from Shreveport) and his opponent came from Tyler, Texas.

Time

This photo was taken around 4:00 P. M.

Lighting

I had to increase my aperture settings (1500) and ISO (3200) because it allowed more flexibility with the action shots and low lighting indoors.

Equipment

Canon Rebel T-3i and the lens I used is a state secret! ;)

Inspiration

At an amateur boxing event, whether one day or three, I take several because I want to share with everyone how amateur boxing, or any youth sport, can be a positive asset to the community. As a former amateur boxer myself, I always wanted to share that there's more to it than just what the general public sees on the surface.

Editing

I do most of processing by simply adjusting my camera to the settings required to capture the action I want. Therefore, I only use Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom when I want to turn my photos black and white.

In my camera bag

State secret! ;)

Feedback

My suggestion is to get a camera that can take high speed photos and a lens (glass) that allows in more light, and maybe a 2.5.
