Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken during my trip with my fiancee (ResaNavigatio on Viewbug) to capture the scenes of the Canadian Maritimes. This was our last moment with moment with our host's dog. She came to the middle of our room and watch us pack up.

Time

This was taken in the late morning.

Lighting

To have the natural light in this picture was harder than expected. The spring time weather was very cloudy and unpredictable.

Equipment

My equipment was very basic my Nikon D5100 with the 18mm - 55mm f3.5 lense.

Inspiration

My inspiration was quite simple, I wanted a memory of her. When she laid down and started to stair at the camera that was laying on the floor I had to take it. Plus, she was a very cooperative model, letting me take multiple pictures giving me the chance to experiment with my angles and settings.

Editing

Little editing was done to this picture. I only played with the lightning and the contrast using the stock editor that comes with Windows 10.

In my camera bag

Being a brand new amateur photographer and a traveler I have very limited equipment. My Nikon D5100 and my stock lense is everything I have.

Feedback

My advice would be always have your camera at arms length. You never know when your subject is going to present itself. Take a minute to visualize what part of your subject you want to expose. Don't be afraid to move around your subject and try different angles. Natural light is your friend use it when available.
