Technology was created to make our lives easier, to bring us together: and it has. Today we are a more globally connected world than ever before, and our day to day tasks have been simplified exponentially. However, while all of this is true, technology has also separated us from the world. We text instead of talk, our popularity is measured by Instagram likes, not personality, we live vicariously through YouTube instead of venturing out into the world ourselves. We have become tied down by the very thing we created to liberate our lives.
I titled my work, "Tied down by Technology", and to illustrate the theme, I literally tied power chords around my models and placed them to appear as if the chords were dragging them down or controlling them.
