Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Musee du Louvre, Paris, France,

Time

I remember that It was a rainy day, and I was hoping that a little sun came out to make blow up the colors of that beautiful city. April 30, 2016 at 11.01 am.

Lighting

It rained all morning, except for about 5 minutes after 11.00 am when I managed to take this picture. I was in the right place, at the right minute.

Equipment

I took this picture with my canon 5d mark II + canon ef 24-105 f4 is L, no other equipment was involved. ( Iso 640. 32mm, f/6.3, 1/250sec )

Inspiration

That huge door, reflections on the wet ground and all the colors around me, made me think about how should be the door of paradise, and I have tried to impress it in the camera sensor.

Editing

I used lightroom to bring out some more details from the sky, playing with highlights, shadows, exposure and clarity. The picture has been cropped for about 2-3% from the original raw file, using the "automatically straighten" function. A graduated filter was used on the top part of the image.

In my camera bag

I like to travel light, there are days that I have with me only my Canon 5D mk2 and the 24-105 or 5dmk2 and supertakumar 50mm 1.4, and nothing else. For travel a little longer in my backpack there are: Canon 5d mk2 with the canon 70-200 f4 is mounted. The canon 24-105 f4 is and the supertakumar 50mm 1.4. The YN 685 flash with YN triggers, filters, 2 extra batteries, 3 extra cf cards and a piece of 90% dark chocolate, a bit of energy for the long day :)

Feedback

For me in this shot it was important that all fixed elements were symmetrical, and that people would create dynamic actions to be balanced with the immobility of the other elements. I waited several seconds in a locked position, until I saw actions that seemed important to me with the idea of the picture that I wanted to capture.
