This photo was taken in my kitchen after my wife had just baked one of her great thick crust pizzas.Time
This was at dinner time when the pizza had just been removed from the oven and placed on a cutting board. I wanted to experiment with focus techniques by taking a close-up but with part of the pizza in focus and the background fading away.Lighting
This was artificial room lighting and I used a flash with my camera.Equipment
The camera was mini-tripod mounted at an appropriate height to get an angle of view appropriate for the focus (Bokeh)Inspiration
Well first, I like taking pictures, especially with objects that have a nice richness in color and contrasts. The surface of this pizza and its toppings fits this category. I also wanted to test out the depth of field perception and varying focus and blur with a twelve inch pizza.Editing
Minor sharpening, otherwise, no post-processing.In my camera bag
My Canon 70D camera, an 18-270 zoom lens, a 400mm L-series pump zoom and a doubler. This total equipment weighs less than ten pounds and gives me the most versatility in the field, especially since I am a nature photographer and therefore often out hiking long distances.Feedback
Be creative, be spontaneous. I like to think from a viewer's perspective when confronted with a vista or an animal. What is the best composition for a viewer. With habit, this takes just a few seconds before taking the shot. For a sequence of shots on a hike or a trip, the sequence of photos should tell a story. Above all, have fun!
