This photo is a hand-held shot (in more than one sense ;) across the table. Lens was set to 15.2mm, and the flash fired automatically.Inspiration
Inspiration was in the contrast; a storyload about 80 years vs. 8 months difference. The lady holding the child has in the meantime passed away, so to me this also has an added worth of remembrance.Editing
The photo was cropped to 16:9 to highlight the theme, and also turned black & white using NikCollection Silver Effex 2, so as to augment the graphical strength of textures which is the theme here.In my camera bag
No bag. I prefer a photo vest. Its million pockets contain two cameras, ND and CPL filters, spare batteries, a camera clamp (standing in for the cumbersome tripod), and some improvising tools, like a lenth of paracord, a pocket knife, and a lighter. You can do many things with just those, so there is no need to burden yourself with gear. "Travel light - go far", that's a good motto!Feedback
Sometimes there's the big picture, and at other times, the whole story is in the details. Just like a great landscape photo might utterly depend upon one detail in the foreground. One should thus observe the whole range at all times. Two quotes from Anaïs Nin might explain this better: “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.” (just replace "write" with "photograph"...) 'We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."
