Location
"The King's Chamber" was taken in a castle in North Georgia. I was very lucky to attend an amazing photography program at North Georgia Technical College in Clarkesville, GA.Time
We were given access to the castle from approximately 4 pm till a little after dark. Unfortunately it was a very overcast day with intermittent misting rain storms, because of this I mostly used off camera flash to add drama and a direction of light to my images.Lighting
I have been using the Foursquare by LightwareDirect. I had 3 speedlites on the square with a 30" softbox and egg crate. This was a very confined area and used the egg crate to help direct the light.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark III with the Canon 17-40 f/4L and the Canon St-e3 controller on top triggering the lights out of frame.Inspiration
Through several online groups involving photography, I had reached out to a couple gentlemen local to my area and let them in on the location I had acquired and asked if they would be interested in a setting up a shoot. Through networking and reaching out, we were able to get several amazing models to come, just because the location was so awesome!Editing
I did very light dodging and burning, a light vignette to bring the focus into the girl. Everything else was done in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I often joke that I have everything in my bag, and may will usually agree. Being a Marine Corps Vet, I tend to try to be prepared for everything. The normal things in my camera bag include: Canon 5D Mark III, 7D Mark II, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 16-35 f/4 IS, 24-105 f/4 IS, 100 f/2.8 Macro, Loupe, ND filters, CPL, extra batteries, battery extender for phone and cable, pocketwizards, gaffers tape (black), memory cards, norwex cleaning cloth, various cables and adapters.Feedback
Find a great location, a beautiful person to put in front of your camera and then work your light until it is perfect. I see so many new photographers that set their lights up and never move them or adjust them. I am always wanting to find that amazing photo, I am much happier with one amazing photo that people are amazed with than a thousand that people just skip over. Even though I may have taken a thousand to get that perfect one.
