Taken on the infamous "Monkey Hill" in Phuket. I lay on the ground as my wife lay bananas in front of me. Luckily for us, there were very few tourists around that day so we got to spend a lot of time letting the monkeys get used to us. This little one was happy to sit in front of us munching away.

Location
The photo was taken in a rather infamous place in Phuket, Thailand called "Monkey Hill". Literally lying down in the middle of the road. May not be the safest method. But what's life without risks right?Time
After tiki touring around Phuket we wanted to find a spot for lunch, it was almost by accident we found this place. So the photo was taken just after lunch time.Lighting
In regards to lighting, thankfully today had some high cloud cover. The lighting was just perfect.Equipment
As Canon has just announced the Canon 5Dmk4 I've seen many discussions / arguements as to which is better, Canon / Nikon / Sony etc etc. I firmly believe that the best camera is the camera you have in your hand. The camera I used for this was my trusty old Canon 5Dmk2 coupled with a 70-200 f2.8 L.Inspiration
I love animals, and I love photographing them. The thing that I love more than anything though is getting to their level. I like to bring a certain 'connection' to them. Whilst I love this, my wife often gets frustrated with me saying "Just a little longer, let me see if it will come to me", and this is with any animal.Editing
To be honest, this has had the bare basics of editing. The straight out of camera RAW file was gorgeous, but I couldn't not take it into Lightroom and bump up the sharpness. All in all though, very very minimal editing. In my camera bag
Everything. I'm a camera gear hoarder. I think my back is suffering from it, but no pain no gain right? I will have the following: Canon 5Dmk2, 24-70mm f2.8 L, 135mm f2.0L, 70-200 f2.8 L, 580EX II, Go Pro, Pocket Wizard, Timer Release.Feedback
Patience. As mentioned, I took this lying in the middle of the road. I probably spent the better part of an hour in the general area just hanging out with the monkeys before getting this shot. They're not caged, they're wild, and a little wary. My approach to animals is always spend the time to sit, get low down to them, be less intimidating, and let them come to you.
