One of my favorite spots along the Maine Coast. Have photographed the Nubble many times.

Mine too.. My wife and I used to go to Maine every September and start in York because its only 4 hours from us. We would stay there the first night and then wander up the coast.. and back down to York on the last night. I hope to be able to go back once all this virus crap is over..

Location
This photograph was taken at York , Maine at the Cape Neddick lighthouse, which is also known as The Nubble. It's the most photographed lighthouse in America and a photo of it was even aboard the Voyager II spacecraft. It's a very accessible light, and since I usually visit Maine just about every year, I make it a point to go there. This was shot later in the day when the sun was to the west and the sky cloudy.Time
This was shot later in the day when the sun was to the west and the sky cloudy. I did not bring my tripod so steadied the camera on a rock on the edge of the parking lot. It's often hard to get a clean shot without many people in the area, as it is a very busy location for visitors.Lighting
The lighting was just right to accentuate the details of the rocks and the buildings.Equipment
I shot this with my Olympus E500 using the 4-45mm f3.5-5.6 lens.Inspiration
It's an incredibly picturesque location and I am just compelled to shoot multiple images of it every time I go. At Christmastime they light it up with white lights outlining the principal structures. It is a truly beautiful and historic place.Editing
I did minimal post-processing other than , in this case, converting to black and white from the original color. Minot adjustments to contrast and brightness. In my camera bag
I have upgraded recently to the Olympus OMD EM-1 mirrorless digital camera and find it to be quite a bit superior to my old E500. It's the micro 4/3 system so with the adaptor I'm able to continue to use all my current lenses. I carry the 4-45mm., the 40-150mm, the 70-300mm (equivalent to a 600mm zoom in 4/3), and the 50mm f1.2 ED macro. I also carry a circular polarizer, an enhancer, and a cross screen filter , along with the hot shoe flash, a couple of minipods, and my Velbon tripod.Feedback
Find a good angle, and carefully watch how the light plays on the scene. Go a couple of times to get the feel of how it looks at various times.. and then try to plan when it will be the best time to try to shoot. Bracket your shots ! That way you are sure to get something that looks the way you want to!. Try different angles to see what looks best. It's hard not to get a good image of this kind of place.
