Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in my studio in Norfolk.

Time

This was just one shot in a day long shoot with a model with the whole day themed around Game of Thrones. This was taken later in the afternoon as the make-up included very dark "smoke like markings".

Lighting

The lighting was set up to represent a grey morning just before the Sun rose. It was very muted as part of the post processing was some smoke and burned wood around the model.

Equipment

The shot was taken on a d810 with a 27-70 f2.8 nikon lens.

Inspiration

I shot the model on a shoot previously and was struck by her resemblance to the part in game of thrones and we decided to do a dedicated shoot.

Editing

The post on this shot is very simple. The picture is nowhere near the final shot and was just one of a series. The shot we eventually used featured dragons and lots of burning wood.

In my camera bag

Nowadays I very rarely take my bag with me, but on the rare cases where I do it will have a D5 and a Z7 in and then lenses to suit the shoot.

Feedback

Its all about the planning. Having a great make-up artist and costume designer helps as well.
