About 3pm on an overcast day, the wolves were about to be fed and were very active and playful.Lighting
It was a pretty dull day so a lot of the brightening up came in the editing process later. Worth noting that for wildlife photography when a faster shutter speed is needed, an increased ISO always helps counter the lack of light!Equipment
I shot this on my Canon 5DMiii with a 70mm-300mm zoon lens, with no tripod or flash.Inspiration
The wolves were were running about a lot all over the place but every once in a while they'd do something like I caught in this photo. I loved how tender it looked and wanted to capture another side to an animal that often has a less than soft reputation.Editing
I tinted the photo slightly towards a pinkish colour, as I felt it enhanced the mood I was trying to go for.In my camera bag
Just the basics really, three lenses, a 50mm standard, a zoom and a macro, spare batteries and a remote control.Feedback
Be patient. When it comes to animal photography, the animals might do nothing for hours on end and then suddenly act out for five minutes. Be smart about what times you go after certain animals based on their habits, and be prepared to wait for a good period of time with your camera up!
