WOW... best snail photo I have seen. Beautiful. Is this a "trained" snail?? Our area snails just have beige shells with black stripes going around shell... not as colourful.

Thanks Jim, it was just an accident after taking several rolls of film that day that this came out the way it did. Thank you for the feedback. Cheers!

Absolutely love this! I'm just starting out in macro photography (just bought my first macro lens) and this is exactly the type of shot I want to achieve! Any tips for a newbie?

Vicki, thank you. Macro work takes a long time to develope. Each photographer has their own style. Go to YouTube and type in Macro Photography. Their may be some tips there. ;)

This is an amazing shot. The colours, the detail, those little strings of goo! I can feel how slimy he is and I can feel the texture of the moss. Well done sir, well done!

Location
I shot this in the Honolulu Botanical Gardens in 1984.Time
Late morning probably around 11:00amLighting
The lighting was totally natural (sunlight). My Canon did not have a flash attachment so I taught myself on photography with existing light. You can see the paved (cement) pathway blurred in the background.Equipment
Canon A1 Single-Lens-Reflex (SLR) camera with a Tamron 28mm wide-angle lens plus 2X extender. Of course I used a tripod, but my little friend barely moved so I probably could have photographed him without it.Inspiration
I've always loved macro shots and was looking for something small and alive to photograph that day.Editing
No, because back in 1984 there was no Photo enhancement software or ways to enhance except by lowering or boosting the ISO on your camera. "Munching Snail" was a raw shot that was processed at the Base Exchange store. In my camera bag
Nikon D5100 with 2 Nikkor lenses: A-S Nikkor 18-55mm and A-S Nikkor 55-300. I also have a Vivatar Macro Kit and various filters plus a cheap Nikon Bag and Tripod.Feedback
Sorry, but I have no advice because this was captured on film, but a good Vivatar Macro Kit would probably help and A LOT of patience. :)
