Saturday May 21, 2016 I did a 5:17 hour ride over 30 miles of dirt trails riding my cross bicycle with no suspension over two different mesas in Northern New Mexico looking for the black stallion and other wild horses.
After four hours of riding, I came across the beautiful orange stallion that I had not seen in over 7 months. I had watched him grow up, and photographed him many times over the months with the mare and stallion. I was heart broken when he disappeared last fall just before his mother, the mare gave birth again to a new colt. I can't tell you how excited I was to see him again, and he seemed to recognize me. He came out from the trees, stared at me, then turned and ran away. He was with another horse that I didn't get a close look at before they disappeared in the trees, but it was a brownish black horse, I suspect another young batcher stallion, unless he has his own mare?
