The Nikon FA is the most advanced manual focus camera ever designed by Nikon. The FA is the only camera that offered Program Auto Exposure along with Matrix metering with all lenses. Historically significant because it was the first camera to offer a multi-segmented (matrix-evaluative) light exposure meter. It had a built in microprocessor computer designed to automatically analyze different segments of light and select a correct exposure. Virtually all cameras today, whether film, digital or video has some sort of matrix metering.
1988 price without a lens: $650. Current estimated value with lens: $150 - $200. Purchased at a garage sale for $5.

I still have two of them . It was a great film camera. Mine came with a 50mm f1.2 lens.
