Behind The Lens

Location

Taking my dog for a walk around the block! It was a lone flower growing in a neighbors yard.

Time

It was just a little before golden hour started to set in....as the sun broke through some rain clouds.

Lighting

All natural light. The sun had just started peeking through some clouds as rain was moving out, and it created a perfect glow right behind the flower.

Equipment

Canon 70D, 50mm 1.4, freelensed.

Inspiration

The way the flower stood out with the sun breaking through behind it caught my eye. It was just so pretty. Now it's one of my favorite images.

Editing

A little sharpening on the fully in focus petals....and a touch of matte. That's it!

In my camera bag

My Canon 70D and my 50mm 1.4 are my go to! But I always have my 70-200 2.8 with me, just in case! I love natural light, and never use a flash unless it's 100 necessary indoors.

Feedback

Honestly, this was a kind of ...on the go, spur of the moment image. It caught my eye. The composition was perfect and the lighting, as well. I loved the contrast of the pink and the gold behind it. I shot straight on, as to get all that beautiful bokeh in the back ground. And did as little post processing as possible, as it was just about perfect SOOC. My shutter speed is never below 250 (and only adjusted up when that's too much light) and my F stop was 00, as my lens was detached from my camera at the time. This early on during golden hour, my ISO is generally between 200-400...depending on the direction I'm shooting in. Get down. Get dirty. Get the shot.
