This picture was taken in the Spring of 2016 on a kayak trip on Lake Martin, near Breaux Bridge, LouisianaTime
We hit the water in the early morning and this shot was taken around 9amLighting
While the sun had gone up quite a bit after we departed, contrast was still very acceptable between shadows and bright areas of the landscape.Equipment
This picture was taken from the kayak using with a Canon 7D Mark II and Canon EF 500mm F4L IS, handheld!Inspiration
Lake Martin is birding paradise. You've got to be alert and scan the lake for waterfowl. I was lucky all these blue-winged teals took of at the same time and in the same direction, perpendicular to my lens.Editing
There is only minimal cropping to this picture and slight increase in sharpness. In my camera bag
Bodies: Canon 7DMKII, Canon 5DS R, Canon 1D MKIV Lenses: Canon EF500mm F4L IS, Canon EF 100-400mm V2, Extender EF 1.4X V2, Canon 24-70mm F4L IS, Tamron 15-30mm F2.8Feedback
It takes some practice to use a 500mm lens on an APS-C camera handheld from a boat (and some luck!). Make sure to use relatively high ISO so as to keep shutter speed high.
