While in Corcovado NP in Costa Rica I came upon a biologist tagging butterflies so he could work out their numbers, movements, rates of turn over, what flowers they took nectar from, and a host of other things about them. His method of tagging was very simple. He would catch a few up with a net, gently write numbers on the underside of their wings and let them go again. You can just make out the number 93.
