Location
This photo was taken on the old Tram Line in Sintra PortugalTime
It was Autumn and so started shooting soon after lunch. But just before Sunset we got rewarded with superb soft golden light... I literally dropped everything and ran into shooting position along with the model. I was shoting with some friends and we all made good use of the Light.Lighting
As well as the natural light, I also used a external flash with triggers to help balance the light falling on the model.Equipment
Canon EOS 7D EF70-200mm f/4L IS USM at 169mm; ƒ/5; 1/160s; ISO 250 External Flash (Canon 430EXII) Pixel King Triggers SoftboxInspiration
To be honest, this photo was not of my inspiraton. A Good friend whom together we've grown in this art, had the idea, together we developed it into a final product. But i've tried to develop a style that i call as "Day Dream" , bordering on the surreal.Editing
I allways use photoshop. mainly to help clean the picture of any modern society "Noise", and in this case some coloring of the vegetation was needed to create this color balance. Although i normally regulate the white balance in the camera to warm my pictures and use a profile created that already pops these autumn colors. In my camera bag
Camera (sometimes two), my trusty 10-24 and 24-70 from Tamron, my canon 70-200 f4 (always handy for taking pictures after the sunrise), a simple cable trigger, cleaning cloths (a must) , spare batteries and cards ( learned the hard way) . In this case I also had flash, a load more batteries :)Feedback
Its amazing how two or three people can be taking a picture of the same thing but the end result is allways diferent. Look for a perspective that captures the essence of what you imagined, plan ahead (location, clothing, hair, and obviously the model). Dont be afraid to experiment BUT remember that the best light is at the end of the day, and only for a few minutes, so if you do experiment, do it Before the golden end, at which point you need to be ready and waiting.
