Location
The image was taken from the top floor of a stair well in a set of apartments near Jalan Jelatek. There nearest metro station is either Dato Keramat or JelatekTime
I arrived early evening to set up and get a good spot. This is a very popular location for photographers. The image itself was probably taken at around 8:00 pmLighting
Its worth decided whether to focus on the sunset, or blue hour. The sunset can be dramatic, but the light trails from the car headlights wont be as pronounced. Its definitely worth using a ND filter to help slow things down.Equipment
This image was shot with a Nikon D700 and a 16.0-35.0 mm f/4.0 with a sturdy tripod and an ND filter.Inspiration
This is a classic shot of Kuala Lumpur. I'd shot it before In 2012 when I was working there. I headed back to this spot with the intent of improving on my original capture.Editing
When processing I lifted the shadows and increased clarity and contrast. In my camera bag
I don't have a standard set of photography equipment. It depends on what type of shoot I'm doing. For example my bag for travel is a Nikon D750 + 16-35 f4, 35 f2, 50 f1.4, 85 f1.4 for landscapes its the Nikon D750 with 16-35 f4 + lee filter system + tripod. For gigs and festivals I use the Nikon D750 with 24mm f1.4, 85mm f1.4, 70-200 f2.8, 10.5 f2.8 fishFeedback
My advice would be arrive early to avoid losing the spot to another photographer. Make sure you have a choice of focal lengths to shoot at. A 16-35, 24-70, and 70-200 would all be great choices. Don't forget a ND filter for help with the light trails.
