The spectacular multi-level Basilicas in Lourdes, France, where St Bernadette had her visions in 1858. At the top is the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, or just Upper Basilica, consecrated in 1876. At the bottom (nearer the camera) is the Rosary Basilica, consecrated in 1901, with its separate dome and gold cross visible in front of the Upper Basilica. In between, underneath the Upper Basilica, is the first church which is now the Crypt, completed in 1866 - not visible in this image.
