Enjoying the sunrise with some friends on the Skyline Trail in Palm Springs, part of the 5th hardest dayhike ( Cactus to Clouds ) in America according to Outdoor Magazine. Skyline Trail will gain 8,000 feet of elevation in 10 miles as you make your way from basically sea level (500 feet at the desert floor of Palm Springs ) to the top of the Palm Springs Tram at 8500 feet. This is one of my favorite parts of the hike, after ascending about 3,000 feet or so and taking a rest to grab a bite to east and watch the sunrise over the city of Palm Springs before continuing the hike.

If you want to continue the hike, from the top of the Palm Springs Tram you can take a 12 Mile hike that gains another 2400 feet or so to the top of the mountain at 10,834 feet, the 2nd tallest peak in Southern California.
