This photo was taken off of MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach. This bridge is probably the best thing about night time driving through Miami. It just begs to be photographed! The way it lights up at night is the most beautiful part of that drive.Time
This was taken pretty late at night, when not too many cars are out and about in Miami, which is definitely a feat! I would say this was around 3 or 4am.Lighting
Miami has a way of illuminating herself, all I needed was a slow shutter and a tripod to really capture her night time glory.Equipment
Canon 7D, Canon 24-105mm and a Manfrotto tripod. That's basically my favorite set up. I really don't need much else. Sometimes the simplest set ups yield the best results for me.Inspiration
When I see photos of Miami, it's always a beach or some wild nightlife. I knew this spot late at night would be peaceful but still show exactly what miami is like. Colorful, wild...but there's also a quiet side most people don't notice. I wanted to capture that quiet side.Editing
I edit all my photos using Lightroom and occasionally tweak my images using Nik Collection. Nothing too fancy, just some color work.In my camera bag
I always have my 7D, 24-105mm and my 85mm. Those are my everyday lenses and the ones that just always work for me. They never fail!Feedback
Scout, scout and scout! Searching for the right place is the most important. I always look for places yhay convey a certain message thag goes beyond the typical views of my city. Look for something that to you, represents your city. Once you have that, timing is important. For shots like these, it's important for me to go when no one else is around. Typically thats very late at night. I would also recommend shooting with a wider lens, and absolutely do not forget your tripod! I've made that mistake before and it's always a nightmare. And of course, have fun while you shoot. Sometimes the adventure getting there is just as fun as capturing that perfect shot.
