Location
This photo was taken in Kokee, on Kauai, in Hawaii. The island that I have the pleasure of saying I was born and raised on. At one of the lookouts driving up to the top of the famous Kalalau lookout.Time
This whole shoot consisted of 2 models and 2 photographers. A artisan by the name of Chantel Beem, who was vacationing to Kauai from California, met me & the models, sisters Autumn and Alexis, at my local neighborhood center around 8AM, driving up the mountain for a little over an hour we started shooting at 915 sharp (I remember checking the time right before clicking the camera for the first shot.Lighting
It was a gloomy day. PERFECT for shooting obscure, and NO harsh shadows. The fog rolled in and it was just magic.Equipment
I am a very light shooter. I personally shoot with my Canon Rebel 5t w/ a 50mm. BUT, Chantel let me use her 5D Mark iii and 35mm lens, while she shot film!Inspiration
I have always wanted to shoot sisters, and I've always wanted to shoot autumn and lexi. When the time was right and autumn was home on winter break from college I jumped at the opportunity and texted the duo. These two where open to everything and anything we threw at them, from laying in a bed of roses to frolicking barefoot in very cold weather. Pulling off the "RunawaySisters" I have been picturing for years.Editing
Not to much, I have a few presets in Lightroom that I test out but for the most part I like to get my settings right in camera. I don't like to "touch up" unless I am instructed/paid by a client to do so. I just don't think any person needs to be "fixed".In my camera bag
Rebel 5t, 50mm 1.4, 35mm 2.0, a Crystal (grabbing/distorting light), lens filters, cleaning supplies, a umbrella(the weather can never make up its mind here), & glitter. ALWAYS GLITTER. You never know when you'll need it.Feedback
Don't be afraid to shoot in "low light weather", just be prepared. Bring what you think is necessary to protect your camera. Shoot at 100 ISO for the clearest image and up shutter speed if its windy, to catch hair blowing clearly. And remember if your shooting in fog, CONSTANTLY wipe your camera.
