Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while I was skiing down a hill at Afton, Minnesota.

Time

It was in the late afternoon around 6pm.

Lighting

I took the picture when it was just starting to get dark. It was still very light out but just enough to change the lighting slightly.

Equipment

I used my GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition on the 3 way selfie stick and just had it facing out when I went down the hill at time lapse with a picture every 5 seconds.

Inspiration

I wanted to capture pictures of skiing. I had plenty of myself but really wanted to capture the environment.

Editing

I turned the picture to black and white and adjusted the settings on the photo a little to change the contrast of the photo.

In my camera bag

My GoPro Hero 4 Black Edition and then usually an extra battery and any mounts I may need to use.

Feedback

I would say the best advice I have heard is just take pictures and a lot of them. You would be surprised of what comes out of a shot and what people like to see. If you limit youself to just taking what you think looks good you will pass up on chances to capture some really amazing pictures. It's always nice to go back and find a hidden treasure that you didn't expect to capture. Also, I'd say that change the look of a picture. If it's colorful, change it to black and white. See what it looks like and what other perspectives you can create. You might just like it better than the original!
