This photo was taken in Steep Rock, Manitoba, on the shore of the lake. I am a self taught photographer and I love taking pictures of landscapes.Time
I decided to take this picture in the evening around 7-8pm. It was the end of May, the time when this gorgeous flowers bloom and make happy an eye of everyone who looks on them. There many of wood ticks in this time in Manitoba. However, even they did not stop me. I laid down on the cold rocky ground and tried to take as many pictures as possible. I spent lots of time on the ground. I knew that the time was limited for me as those flowers bloom just for a short period of time, so I had to do my best.Lighting
I chose the time of the sunset, because the sun was behind the flowers, which gave the picture a beautiful background. The sunlight highlighted the tiny woolly-white hairs on the flowers, which made them look mysterious. The ice on the lake also added its part to the picture and made it look very interesting. The late sunset made the picture more dramatic as well.Equipment
This picture was take o NIKON D5100. ISO was 100. Shutter speed - 1/10 sec. Aperture - F16. Focal length - 75.0 mm and the lens - 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6, AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED.Inspiration
One day I saw a picture of Crocuses on facebook. I thought that it would be great to take some pictures for myself as those flowers are the official flowers of Manitoba (that's where I live). These flowers have such an unusual beauty, especially during the sunset.Editing
I did not do any post-processing for this picture. In my camera bag
Usually I do not have much in my bag: just a nikkor lens (AF-S DX Micro Nikkor 40mm f/2.8G) and my tripod.Feedback
I would suggest to take pictures of a landscape during the "golden hours" . It is a two hours period during the sunrise and the sunset. It is always nice to take as many shots as possible from different angles and distance. You will end up with hundreds of pictures, which gives you a chance to pick the best once.
