This image is part of a series titled Urban Flora.
The focus here is on conceptual interplay between two totally different but visually similar objects (a tree and an old rusty antenna).
This is a focus-stacked image (I made three separate photographs at f-5.6, focusing on the concrete wall, the tree, and the antenna, respectively, and merged them in post to ensure maximum sharpness across the image).
I wish I could retake this photo with an 8-by-10 film camera, to do justice to this scene.
The color in the photo is as shot. This is the way I like to have many of my images: "in color, but just barely" (Sam Abell). The only part where you can really see color is the leaves of the tree, which are a very pale shade of yellow.
The very slight motion blur on the tree (from the wind) is intentional, highlighting the difference between the total stillness of the antenna (a dead object) and the life that is present in the tree.
