Thank you guys. It was the morning after getting my 5D, my first full frame DSLR. I'd been using a 450D with a stock lens since 2007 and I was pretty excited about getting out there and seeing what the new Canon could do. My son and I had crouched down by the lake shore when 3 young swans paddled over. They gave us a hiss but we stayed put, keeping still. 2 of the signets drifted off, uninterested in us but this beautiful creature just started 'throwing shapes' for the camera. It was like she was saying 'nice camera, have some of that - kapow!' Thank you swan.
