This photo was taken in my back yard in Rochester Hills, MI last summer 2015Time
This was an early afternoon shot in Rochester Hills, MILighting
I always try to capture shadow and light and as this bird turned to face somewhat toward the camera I believe I captured it in good light.Equipment
This photo was taken with a T5i Rebel Canon hand held with a Tamron 150-600 mm. The settings as I recall were: shutter speed 1,000; F-stop at 6.3 and ISO at 800.Inspiration
I recently got into bird photography during a past trip to Kiawah Island, SC. I visited this island in the winter time and there were many birds such as Great Egret, Pelicans, Great Blue Heron, etc. to take photos of. When I returned to Michigan I continued to sharpen my skill by capturing more birds through the glass eye.Editing
Yes, I most often do post process to bring in contrast, exposure adjustment and saturation. I also try to sharpen my images the best that I can.In my camera bag
I usually carry 3 lenses when out photographing such as my landscape lens, bird lens and macro lens.Feedback
My only advice to others trying to capture similar subject matter is to enjoy what you are capturing and practice makes perfect!
