Location
This shot was taken shortly after I moved to the country in south west Michigan. I took a late day drive just taking in all the open spaces and farms that was so different for this city girl.Time
After my long drive trying to take in all this new scenery I realized it was starting to get late and the sky was being decorated with these vibrant yet dreamy sunset colors. I stopped to capture the sky and noticed this beautiful tree that had lost most of it's fall colors.Lighting
The sky on this evening was colorful but not necessarily bright. Shooting into the light it gave me just enough lite to create this silhouette.Equipment
At this time I was shooting with an old Nikon D 50 that I had bought used.Inspiration
This photo was a happy accident really. I was taking in the beautiful countryside and as I finnished my day of exploration the sky became irresistible and that tree with it's beautiful lines gave me the perfect object to break up the sky.Editing
Very little post processing was needed in this photo. I did add a slight bit of vibrancy, took down the shadows, and darkened the foreground. In my camera bag
I am not a professional photographer so I don't keep a lot of equipment in my bag and my contents change with the season. I say that because in the spring summer many of my shots are macros of flowers so I make sure I have a piece of plastic to get down on the ground and not end up wet or muddy. Fall and winter I tend to do more landscape shots so my tripod is packed. I always have my standard and zoom lens along with my Nikon D750.Feedback
Just be aware of your surroundings. If you go to take a photo of something specific, stop and look around you. Look up, look down, you never know when that happy accident will happen.
