Location
This photo was taken in my backyard while trying to learn how to use my camera. The backyard can have some hidden treasures if you just look around.Time
This was taken at my favourite time of day, day break, and my favourite time of year, Autumn. I think mother nature is showing her best side then.Lighting
I can't take any credit for the lighting, it was the perfect early morning sunlight that did all the work I just took advantage of it.Equipment
I used my Nikon 3300 with an 18-55mm lens. I'm finding it a great camera to learn by, it produces some great shots.Inspiration
I love roses and this one was looking at it's best, I couldn't resist it. It is a yellow rose, sitting in the shade, opening up to the morning light. The sun hadn't hit it yet so the yellow was still a soft glow and not the bright yellow it becomes when the sun hits it.Editing
I changed it from colour to black and white, played with the contrast and highlights and blurred it a little with the clarity dial. All in Light room. Nothing too technical. In my camera bag
As a beginner I don't have a lot. Other than my Nikon 3300 with 18-55 lens I have a 55-300 zoom lens, a spare battery, a spare sim card, a lens cleaning cloth and a small amount of cash in case I wish to photograph a street performer.Feedback
Early morning seems to be a great time to take photos of flowers. The colours of the petals seem to react to the light as the sun rises in the sky. Not forgetting using a larger aperture will blurr the background which will help your flower pop. And if the light is low try a larger iso number or even a flash, it's amazing what a flash will show up that the eye can miss.
