We have had lots of rain in Houston. I thought I'd take the opportunity to catch some drops falling in the pool. The instant I finished setting up the rain stopped... because that's how it goes sometimes. Instead I found the rose from a nearby bush floating and caught this.

Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in my pool during the flooding that was happening in Houston TX. I was bummed out because the rain had kept me from going another shoot. I figured I would just make the best of it and see what I could find that might look interesting nearby.

Time

It was actually mid day. The dark clouds softened the light just right and made the capture come out nicely.

Lighting

A stormy, cloudy day worked like a giant softbox on what normally would have been a brutal mid day Texas sun.

Equipment

I shot this with a Nikon D750 and a Nikon 70-200 F2.8

Inspiration

I wanted to show myself and others that you don't have to venture far from home to get an interesting shot.

Editing

I used Lightroom CC to crop and pull so detail out of the water.

In my camera bag

Nikon D750, 70-200, 24-70, and 10-24.

Feedback

Expect to get wet and keep rain gear for you and your equipment handy.
