Well captured slow shutter shot Peter. Timing is perfect to capture the player sharp and in profile with a particularly slow shutter. I'm just wondering if it would work better with a pano crop as I find myself being drawn away from player by the lights in the upper left portion of the image.

Thanks for the suggestion Phil, I'll have a play with that and see how things look.

I had become bored with shooting shoots that froze the action and had decided to try a longer shutter speed to capture a sense of the dynamism involved in the sport of curling.Editing

Use a shutter speed 1/4 of a second or slower, experiment with various shutter speeds to see which one will allow you to freeze your subject but get a nice strong motion blur in the back ground. Make sure you track the subject well before you intend taking the shot and keep tracking until after your shot has completed. Also set your focus to the point where your subject will be when you intend taking the shot and then switch your autofocus off. If you have the opportunity practice tracking (panning) your subject on a couple of runs before you take your shot. this will allow you to get a feel for you tracking speed and will help you to maintain your tracking speed when you take the shot. Experiment with shutter modes, single shot as against continuous.
