This 1918 WWI panorama photo is a restoration I did for a 91 year old client that brought it to me in hopes of restoring it, because her father is in the photograph. The size of the photo was 51" X 11" approximately, and I had to scan it in sections into the computer, then stitch them all together. Each part of the images had different stages of deterioration and coloring, some parts even missing entirely. The project took quite a bit of time and painstaking effort, but in the end, it was completely restored and reprinted to fit in the 100 year old frame that I also restored with the original glass still in tact. It was one of my most favorite projects as I love history. I was able to zoom in on her father, and get a portrait out of it for her. The image quality from 100 years ago was actually amazing, I was very surprised, making it possible to get nice clear results. The image reads "Co. C. 49th ENGINEERS, FORT MYER, VIRGINIA. JUNE, 1918". It's too bad this website does not allow to zoom in so you can see the details and the expressions on these soldiers faces.
