Behind The Lens

Location
This photo was taken in the Cheshire countryside, UK, at the end of Manchester's main runway. I enjoy photographing aviation. A few hours were spent waiting for the A380 Emirates to depart to Dubai.
Time
End of March at 1500, shortly before it was due to leave, a heavy thunderstorm developed, with the threat of lightening strikes and being in the open a dash to the car ensued.Once the storm passed I returned to my location the heavy rain left plenty of surface water on the runway.
Lighting
With the storm behind the A380 emerged, her engines lifting water from the runway, a spectacular sight. The flat colour from the storm and the even of the spray made for a nice clean background to set the aircraft off.
Equipment
This image was shot freehand using my Canon 750D, no flash and an exposure of 1/1000, I was using my Canon 55-250mm zoom lens at 250mm with an aperture of f/7.1 ISO400, due to the distance from the aircraft.
Inspiration
Many hours of my childhood were spent watching the airplanes coming and going, and the Airbus A380 being the largest commercially flying plane was a good reason to go and capture its beauty
Editing
Processed in Lightroom,a few adjustments were made to lift the colors of the storm, due to the distance from the aircraft I had to apply a crop.
In my camera bag
In my bag, Canon 60mm Macro, love it, my favorite. My kit is budget, compared to many, but I get by, I love my Canon 750D it was my best purchase, still mostly using kit lenses though I have added a few from the 18-55mm that came with the camera. Most of lenses are off eBay, but work perfectly well. I have a range of zooms to take me from 10-300mm and some fixed lenses, 28mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4 and the a 60mm Macro. I have a basic tripod and an intervalometer for night photography, I purchased a ring flash for Macro photography.
Feedback
If you have an interest in a particular subject its worth the time and effort to capture it to the best of your ability.
