The way you made your foreground look like leading lines and the way this rock structure leads up to the night sky... the whole image looked like one giant 'earth' temple. :)

This shot is a combination of several exposures.
The Bardenas Reales is a semi-desert natural region, or badlands, of some 42,000 hectares (100,000 acres) in southeast Navarre (Spain). The soils are made up of clay, chalk and sandstone and have been eroded by water and wind creating surprising shapes, canyons, plateaus, tabular structures and isolated hills, called cabezos. Bardenas lacks urban areas, vegetation is scarce and the many streams that cross the territory have a markedly seasonal flow, staying dry most of the year.

Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photo in the Bardenas The Bardenas Reales is a semi-desert natural region in southeast Navarre (Spain) This hill called "Castil de tierra" and was formed by nature.
Time
I shot several exposures here from 7.30pm till 8:30pm The light and the stars are awesome at this evening so I decided to shot some different exposures with different lights. I merged some exposures to this picture because the dynamic range of the human eye is much better than of each camera and I would like to show exactly what I saw in this moment there. It´s an awesome landscape there.
Lighting
I took several exposures here to get a high dynamic picture. In some exposures I use lightpainting with my headlamp later at the evening.
Equipment
I used my primary cam Canon EOS 1-DX I used a tripod Rollei T-63C And everytime when I'm in nature I have my headlamp to see where I go and sometimes it´s great to do some lightpaintings with it
Inspiration
I saw a photo of "Castil de tierra" in the Internet and I read something about the Bardenas desert. Then the Bardenas was high on my todo-list.
Editing
About the post-processing in this picture: The dynamic range of humans eyes are 1000 times better than every camera so that I do on all my pics a post-processing. I landscape photography with difficult lights ( For example turn from night to day ) it is really important to do post-processing. I shot all my pics in RAW and without any camera-programs or automaticly color corrections. I shoot always manual. In this pictures I used some different exposures from exactly the same place. (Often I stand many hours at the same place without move the cam and tripod and shoot the same picture 20-30 times to get different exposures and lightening) Than in the post-processing I used masks in photoshop to draw different exposures in the picture to get great results. I don´t use HDR programs.
In my camera bag
It is very different. When I shot Portraits, I only have my Canon 1-DX and the 85mm 1.2 in my bag. If Iam on tour in nature with my VW-Bus, I put so many thing in my Bag (2 or 3 bags): Canon 1-DX and Canon 5D MKIII as reserve. Tripods 2 or 3 and a special gimbal for Panos. Enough memory cards. And some lenses: Canon EF 50mm 1,4 USM Sigma 20 mm F1,8 EX Canon EF 100-400mm L IS USM 15mm F2,8 EX DG Diagonal-Fisheye Tamron A007E SP 24-70 mm F/2.8 Di VC USD Canon 100 / 2,8L Macro IS USM Sigma 120-300 mm f2,8 Tamron SP AF 70-200 mm F/2.8 Di VC USD Canon 85mm 1,2 II L USM
Feedback
If you want to shot a special location you have to inform about the local conditions. My recherche is very intensive to read about the location what I want to shoot in internet. Sometimes I ask othe photographers wich is the best season and so on. A great assistance is a program to see how the sun move in a special landscape. ( I use sunsurveyor).
