Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on my 35th birthday while on my very first trip to the Grand Canyon. Grand is not the term that should be used to describe this remarkable place!

Time

If i recall correctly, this was taken in the late afternoon into the early evening. We had stayed for the amazing sunset!

Lighting

I just kept my Nikon D60 on the landscape setting. I wanted to keep focused on my footing. :-)

Equipment

I had my Nikon D60 hanging around my neck. I did not use a flash or a tripod. I took hundreds of photos that day. Perhaps I should upload those as well!

Inspiration

I was just sitting there taking in the enormity of this natural wonder, feeling my soul settle into a peacefulness that I don't think I can relate to another magnificent place. I then thought that my feet off the edge would show what a vast canyon this actually is; to bring it to scale.

Editing

I rarely edit any of my photos. I like to keep them "in the moment" so to speak. If I do edit, it's usually to a black and white which is my other favorite photography.

In my camera bag

I am really an amateur photographer with no fancy equipment. I wear my camera around my neck and leave my bag in the car. I'll carry my S7 with me as well. Eventually, I'll collect new equipment and gear. However, in my actual camera bag, I have all of my batteries (always carry an extra), bug spray, a headlight and the camera cords and charger.

Feedback

I would say take as many pictures as you want. To me they are all unique and never the same, therefore no photo is a bad photo. Photography started off as a fun hobby and has now become a passion of mine. I just shoot what I think looks good to me, a little more outside of the box. Good luck and Happy Photos!
