This was taken during the short walk from the rail station to my office of the time in Sheffield city centre. The South Yorkshire steel city, famous for cutlery making, was once a grimy, smoke-filled, stinking, God-forsaken place but has transformed into a lively and pleasant law, financial and insurance services centre with the friendliest population of any city I know - the shop assistant ladies typically smile and say "thank you love". This picture, for me, symbolises the city's renewal.
