Behind The Lens

Location

This is One Tree Hill at Maleny on the Sunshine Coast, it looks out over the Glasshouse Mountains towards Brisbane

Time

Well for starters next time I will take a jumper, I was freezing. It was taken just before the sun came up, when heading up there I was not expecting the milky way to be directly verticle behind it.

Lighting

For once light polution came in handy as the lights from Brisbane helped light up the tree

Equipment

On an old trusty silk tripod I used a Canon 6D, Canon 17-40mm f4 lens

Inspiration

I had not shot this location before, I'm glad I made the trip up the range, especially when I see the milky way directly behind the tree

Editing

All my processing starts in Lightroom for basic adjustments then moved to photoshop to finish. Apart from bringing out the milky way a littl more and cropping not much was done to this photo

In my camera bag

Canon 6d, 17-40, 50mm 1.4, filters, remote trigger

Feedback

Get out the there, enjoy our beautiful planet, use google earth to help plan your trip for milky way shots, also there are sites to show light polution areas, check sites for shots of the area you are wanting to shoot and last but not least, if near roads then use street view on google maps to find locations
