This photo was taken near Welkenraedt, in the eastern part of Belgium, not to far from the Germany border. plenty of fields, forest, hills. Beautiful part of the country.Time
Well, as you can see, by the end of the day in winter 2015. I used to roam that part a lot on my new motorcycle. What better way to test new wheels than just just driving around, isn't it ?Lighting
Sun peering through the clouds, my favorite. I totally burnt that one though. Light is always hard at that time of the year and I didn't have much time on site. But I still love the depth and the shadow it givesEquipment
Nikon D5200, Tamron 18-200 mm and my motorcycle as tripod... Got to use what you have at hands, right ?Inspiration
As I was in the neighborhood, I stopped by some friends. They asked me what photos I've been taken lately but my lazy ass had nothing to show so their daughter ordered me to take something nice before going home ! The title, A&C is actually the first letters of their first name. On my way back, I spotted this view, by the alley next a house. The owner was coming home and she let me use the alley but just for a few minutes before closing the portal. I still wish I had the time to make some long pause shots. I really love the two trees, one tall and lean, the other shorter and chubby... They look like a classical comical duoEditing
Yes, lightroom only but still extensive. Opening the shadows on the fields, minimized the highlights in the clouds. Vibrance and saturation have been pushed up of a few points. Not clarity but only because I couldn't decide up or down. I've adjusted the greens and aqua tones to get back the grass somewhere I likeIn my camera bag
I usually pack the D5200 with a prime 35mm from Nikon, a 12-24 from Tokina and a 18-200 from Tamron. I plan to invest in a more compact set depending what Nikon and Fujifilm will announce in the coming monthFeedback
When you have to shoot in those conditions, just take your time, measure well and bracket at least three shots through the shadows, medium and highlights so you can merge everything correctly later. If as this shot, you are in a hurry, just don't burn the highlights and shoot to get a maximum details in the shadows so you can post process that later. Last advice, don't be as lazy as I am, shoot, shoot and shoot even more
