This photo was taken at my baby sisters wedding. This is my autistic grandson holding hands with a girl for the very first time.Time
This was around 11 am on the golf course where the wedding pictures were being taken. I decided to grab my camera because it was a shot I couldn’t miss.Lighting
Nothing special about the lighting. Only natural sunlight as it was a spur of the moment photo I didn’t want to miss as I couldn’t risk taking too much time and having him run away from the flower girl.Equipment
Cannon EOS Rebel T6I EFS 18-135mm lens. No tripod, no flash.Inspiration
This is my one and only grandson and he is autistic so a photo like this, him holding hands with a girl he didn’t know, dressed in a suit, and normally not into being around strangers or in large groups, was a photo opportunity I just could not miss.Editing
It was a color photo that I edited to B&W and then just played around with the edging and other simple processing. Nothing special. I felt it was perfect for me. Although professionally, I am sure I would have done things different but this was personal and I am very happy with the photo. I posted the original color photo and the B&W and more people seemed to prefer the B&W.In my camera bag
I have everything in my bag with me at all times, including my new toy...my lensballs for getting some new and fun different photos for a change. My bag is so heavy I have to have help carrying everything. I definitely overpack...too much to mention.Feedback
Always be prepared and don’t be afraid to shoot in automatic now and again if there is a chance you might not get that once in a lifetime photo. I would rather have that special photo even if it’s not perfection than to miss it all together because I was trying to find the right lens, right settings, etc. Most importantly have fun and enjoy the moment. Keep your eyes open for something unique and out of the norm.
