Behind The Lens

Location
I took this photo at my place. It´s my living room window (and my cat, hehehe).
Time
It´s the end of the afternoon, around 5 pm (winter time in Rio).
Lighting
It was a overcast day, with natural diffused light invading the room with a 30 degree inclination, approximately.
Equipment
Canon Rebel T2i (550D), Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens, handheld. No flash or tripod involved in the process.
Inspiration
Cats are naturally photogenic beings. I always keep my camera prepared for moments like this and I took several photos before I got this shot. Ella (the cat) had such a melancholic look at that particular moment, as if she was expecting someone... well, my wife was out, so I decided immediately for the title of the photo: "Please, come home soon!".
Editing
I always use Adobe Lightroom to organize and post-process my work. I chose one of the presets on my Library, tweaked the temperature, exposure, saturation, contrast and the Tone Curve a bit (specially the shadows areas on the right side and at the bottom), a bit of sharpening and that´s about it. The "model" and the light did the rest, I was just there to capture the moment!
In my camera bag
Canon cameras and lenses (T2i or 5D), a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, a 75-300 f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens and for a long time - probably the most hated lens in the market - the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens for landscapes and street photography. I also use a borrowed 24-70mm f/2.8 from time to time, whenever I can get my hands on it. Camera gear is a long-term investment, so after a lot of research, I decided for the Sony A6300 camera (I also shoot video), and I´m quite excited about it!
Feedback
Well, my advice it´s to always be vigilant of what may happen around you, specially regarding animals and children, they are quite unpredictable and surprising. Being patient always pay! And ALWAYS have your camera ready to shoot right away!
