Although beautiful and colourful I do feel sad when I see these little birds in the city parks and trees. They are a typical example of the people interference and how our climate changes. Most of them are descendants from either escaped or released tame birds. With the warmer winters they do survive and thrive in our cities. So far OK but as they out compete the House Sparrows, woodpeckers etc for nest space those are on the decline...fast.

Love the photo and note your comments. I now have a pair visiting my garden in Scotland! Still very unusual here but you rightly highlight problems with non-native species.

In itself I don't mind change, but only if it is natural. For instance Kingfishers are seen "everywhere" due to the warmer winters. But they belong here. And it is not only with animals, think of all the imported plants we use in our gardens...
