Sometimes an idea for a picture occurs to me in the situation itself or even afterwards on the computer. I rarely do scetches. Today's picture is a good example for that. At first I was just thinking very simple: a red dress, a dark forest, great! That was about it. Then I am standing in a dark forest, it was raining, I was all by myself, I put the remote-control release to intervall and I walk in front of the camera, I am turning around, I am streching my arms, I am trying different things. I am so thankful for the fact, that I was completely alone there. Later, when I saw the picture on my computer, I got the idea with the flying leaves, that make this photo complete.

Location
The photo was taken in a forest in Ahrensburg, near Hamburg, Germany. Photography is always a great reason and opportunity for me, to get out of the city, discover new locations and enjoy the silence of nature. I even saw some storks flying above the trees.Time
It was a quite cold sunday afternoon. It was raining. I wasn't even sure, if I should go out to take pictures. But later on I was really happy, that I did. Because of the bad weather I had the forest all to myself and could act and dance freely in front of the camera without feeling observed.Lighting
It's all natural light. I didn't take a flash with me. I had to find the right aperture and time to get enough light, but to still have a sharp outcome with me moving around.Equipment
I used my Canon EOS 6D, a Canon EF 24-105 mm 1:3,5-5,6 objective, a tripod and a remote controll-release with a timer option.Inspiration
I like pictures that show an idea and go beyond reality. I like to add a little extra to it in post-production. I had this new red dress and imagined me standing in a dark forest, all by myself, lonely... lost. But I didn't want it to be scary. I wanted it to be sensual (in an innocent way) and magical. I was standing beside a little bush with red leaves. So I thought that I could make them fly all the way through the forest, with my "magic hands".Editing
Yes. I took a HDR picture, so that I had every shape and a higher contrast of the trees. Then I darkend the picture even more in Photoshop and lowerd the saturation of all other colours but red, so that the red colour would really stick out. Then I added the red leaves. I had different shapes and forms of red leaves so that it would look realistic and not just duplicated. It was a lot of work in post-processing with many layers and many layer-masks, but I think it was worth it.In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon EOS 6D, as mentioned above, and my Canon EF 24-105 mm. That's a good basic equipment to be prepared for all kinds of situations, people, landscape etc. The second objective, I always have in my bag, is my Canon EF 50mm f/1,4 USM. It is so great to shoot portraiture and to work with really low light without using a flash. Also my tripod is always with me. I have a really light and small tripod for traveling, I really love it and I never need to think twice whether I take it with me or not. In my camera bag there's also my remote control, which I use really often. I like to have a human in my photo and if I am alone, I need to get in front of the camea myself.Feedback
For me photography is not just to take pictures of the things you see, but to take pictures of the things you feel and see inside yourself. So the most important thing is, to have an idea. Be creative! Be an artist! Transport a feeling! So think of ideas before you go out and shoot! I really love conceptual photography. This is what interests me in the first place. The camera equipment and technique is just second place.
