My son lived for awhile on the very last piece of farm property in the town of Uxbridge, Ontario. The farm house was massive and was such a fun place for the grandchildren to play, but it was in a sad state of disrepair. The roof was covered in tarps to keep the rain out. He did a lot of work to fix the inside of the house up to make it more comfortable but it became just too expensive to heat. They finally moved out and the owner bulldozed it to make room for a subdivision. So sad.

A . I would hate to see a beautiful place like this bulldozed. :( Your shot and edit are so beautiful and poignant!

The owner said he could take anything from the house and barn. There was this magnificent railing for the main staircase, there was a beautiful old piano, the list just goes on. Reclaiming the wood from the barn would have been wonderful. Jess makes beautiful tables out of old doors and reclaimed wood. He learned to make Aimish furniture at a furniture manufacturing place that was family owned. Such beautiful work they did. He can do almost anything to refurbish or repair floors, walls etc. in Century old homes. He is very skilled. But they knew they had to get out of the farmhouse b4 the cold winter set in, a place became available (farm they are renting now), so between the move and getting settled, he had no time to retrieve all the things he wanted from the other property :( The owner wasted no time in 'dozing' the place, he had it on the backburner for a few years.

This photo is so beautiful. It looks like you could just step right into it and see everything you described about it even though it is no longer there.
