I took this of my cat in my livingroom with some natural light and a speed flash bounced off the ceilingTime
This was taken around 3 pm, with plenty of natural light filtered through a window and enhanced with my speed flashLighting
He is a naturally beautiful cat, very quiet and a bit mysterious, I wanted to capture his personality, his eyes say it all, that's what I wanted to capture, his personality through his stunning green eyesEquipment
I used my Nikon 55-200mm lens with my speed flash pointed to the ceiling. I had lots of natural light, which gave a "pop" to his natural colorInspiration
He is a rescue animal that had been abandoned, nobody wanted this beautiful animal, he was in bad shape when I got him and he has been nothing but a joy in my house. He is sweet and kind and very loving, I wanted to capture those traits, he is a beautiful creature inside and out and he deserves to have his happy ending shared.Editing
I didn't do too much post processing, just some framing and saturation adjustments. I did also remove the reflection of the flash from his eyes.In my camera bag
I currently have 4 lenses, my 2 kit lenses, 55-200mm, 18-55mm, and a macro 85mm , and prime lens 35mm 1.8f. My "go to" lens is my 55-200mm, it allows me to get great shots from a distance, but still feel like I'm in the action. I do carry around a tripod, as well!Feedback
Be patient and have enough light to increase the shutter speed. Animals are difficult to capture because of the unpredictable movements. I got this shot with a slower shutter speed than I would normally use because I got his attention and he froze. Know what you are after, have a plan in mind, and go for it!
