The color of the water comes from, "Glacier Milk". There are several glaciers above the lake. The weight of the glaciers has crushed the rocks for so long that powder crumbles out and gets washed away with the run-off. The rock powder is very fine and it floats for days. It is called, "Glacier Milk" by some mountain people. The floating particles cause the color of the cold water to turn to turquoise.
