In the past few decades, hundreds of archeological sites have been discovered in the vast tundra around the Tangle Lakes of Alaska. The lands have been utilized by hunter-gatherers for nearly 10,000 years. And more recently, in the past hundred and fifty years, by miners and those seeking valuable minerals. Though I was unable to find any historical documentation on this spiral rock garden, and clearly the cairn is a more recent addition, it does make one wonder if there is any correlation to the surrounding history.
