Behind The Lens

Location

The view is from a look-out point on the north shore of Lake Tahoe.

Time

On the early morning daily commute "off the hill" I make a quick stop at this point to always breathe in the view.

Lighting

The composition was nature's choice...I was at the right place at the right time.

Equipment

Some may cringe, as it consists of a Sony DSC-HX400 (20 megapixel 50x zoom). It works for me as an easy pack all-around piece of equipment. It was natural lighting and none of my shots so far have used a tripod...probably need to get serious about it though!

Inspiration

The snow clouds from the previous evening were moving out at that point in time. I am thankful all the actors were in position.

Editing

Another potential cringe moment, but as I am in learning on the fly, a moderate photo-editing tool while dialing in "what looks good".

In my camera bag

The Sony HX400 is easy to pack for the commute, hikes, and kayaking. I always carry an extra battery...does that count?

Feedback

Tahoe has a lot to offer no matter the season, and makes it almost easy getting a good shot. Better equipment equals better shots. But for me the main point is to frame and create the shot for viewing the memory after.
