Location
I took this photo in the fall in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The area is full of farm stands/markets and we stumbled upon this adorable antique farm truck turned into Tow Mater, the animated truck in Pixar's animated Cars movies.Time
Early evening when the lighting was perfect and the fall long shadows were in full swing. The stand had already closed but I was able to get a few really good shots of this amazing replica!Lighting
Lighting in photography is everything! When the lighting is right for the subject it really makes the world of difference for mood, and the photos outcome. I typically wait until the suns glare has gone and Fall is the perfect time for long shadows and for amazing shots!Equipment
I used my Rebel T3, taken hand held with 18-55 mm lens. No Flash, no tripod.Inspiration
Quite accidentally stumbled into the farm stand, but I have two young boys who were serious Cars(the movie) fans and had all the toys and books for their entertainment! I was thrilled to show them and they actually thought it was the real Tow Mater!Editing
I actually only used a manual setting HDR trick I learned from using Lightroom 5 and 6 before all the other photoshops apps had auto HDR. I found it easy to understand and I was pleased with the result. I used those settings in lightroom to create HDR for many more shots, but now I have ON1 and they have some amazing HDR auto settings that can be done with a tap of a key.In my camera bag
I recently upgraded to Canon Rebel T7 body. I always have my 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses in my bag. Depending on what and where I plan to shoot I have various magnifiers and filters as well. On occasion I will have my Alturo .35X Fisheye super Macro lens and my Alturo .43X wide angle lens as well. A rubber hood is a must and helps with tricky lighting.Feedback
Always be prepared for anything when heading out to explore a new area or a targeted destination. I just purchased another camera bag for all of those occasions when you might want to have a particular lens or filter to shoot the perfect photo! Lighting is definitely the key for awesome shots!
