Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken In Puerto Vallarta. Just past the beech Muertos. I was walking and exploring the beeches when I climbed up a rocky set of stairs that went up to a small mountain top. Wow what a view. Then I carefully went down the other side and was in this cove where this rock formation was. I thought to myself " man I have to come back here one evening for the sunset".

Time

I think you can see that the time of day was sunset. I was taking pics all the way down the hill as well as other spots in this cove. So when I got to this spot everything was picture perfect in my eye.

Lighting

Everything has to come together just at the right moment to take what I call a postcard picture and this was no exception. I was very lucky in many ways. This shot was taken just at the right moment that the sun was creating this magical glow. Another lucky thing was the time of year I was there for the sun to be at this place in the sky. I think it was there just for me that day.

Equipment

I can't remember off hand which camera I had around my neck that day. I might of had two.

Inspiration

I did not know that day until I got there, the tide would play such an important part of my shot. Again, just another twist of fate that put the tide coming in just at the right time as the sun was coming down. When i seen the water crashing against the rocks and creating these brilliant cascades of exploding droplets I thought to myself " I wonder if I can time it just right when the sun drops down more so I can see the sun glowing through a make-shift filter of water". I'm not going to lie, I did not think I could get the rhythm right. I'm saying that because I had many failed attempts and my window of opportunity was growing thin with every crashing wave. But as you can see I was super lucky that day!

Editing

I can't remember doing anything to the shot.

In my camera bag

I can't remember which camera I used that day.

Feedback

All I can say is, seize the moment and if your quick on your feet and go with your gut instincts, a great shot will prevail. Who cares how many shots it takes. Only you will see them all and you can delete all but that one great shot.
